Reid & Associates has been engaged to recruit an experienced Emergency Department Director for a respected, independent community hospital in Rural Northern California.

 

This hospital serves a diverse coastal region and operates a busy Emergency Department that plays a central role in the community. The organization is financially stable, locally governed, and committed to high-quality patient care and strong clinical leadership.

 

The ER Director will lead a dedicated team, help strengthen department culture, and partner closely with senior leadership to improve operations, quality, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Emergency Department

  • Mentor and develop nursing and support staff

  • Improve throughput, patient flow, and satisfaction metrics

  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and recruitment

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness

  • Strengthen physician and staff collaboration

  • Drive quality, safety, and performance initiatives


What We’re Looking For

  • Current ER Nurse Manager or ER Director

  • Strong leadership presence with a hands-on approach

  • Track record of improving staff morale, performance, and patient experience

  • Experience in community hospitals, rural settings, or Level III/IV ERs

  • Collaborative and communicative leadership style

  • California experience is a plus but not required
